What is Chapter 30? • The Montgomery GI Bill - Active Duty (Chapter 30) is an educational benefit that provides up to 36 months of full-time payments to eligible veterans and service members for approved education and training programs.

How do I know if I’m eligible? • The Department of Veterans Affairs determines eligibility and the criteria can be found here https: //www. va. gov/education/eligibility/ • Please keep in mind that veterans may be eligible for multiple benefits and should do the research in advance as to which program works best for their individual situation. • Some benefits can be used in sequence; others may need to be relinquished.

What benefits can I get at CMC with the Montgomery GI Bill? • CMC offers priority registration to all veterans and active duty, regardless of separation date or use of GI Bill benefits. Must have proof of prior military service (retired ID, Department of Veterans Affair ID, DD 214, etc. ) to Veterans Services on the main campus. Dependents do not qualify for priority registration. • Offers counselors that are well informed on this benefit. They will help keep you on track with your educational goal. • Pursuant to the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 (choice, VACA), CMC offers resident enrollment fees to all covered individuals, effective July 1, 2015. Eligible Veterans initially determined to be subject to out of state tuition should submit a change of status form with required documentation to Veteran Services. • Bud and Betty’s Place is a recreational center open to Veterans and Active Duty students. The center offers computers, soda mess, and a comfortable space to study and hang out with other Veterans and Active Duty students. • Veteran Services is always available to help with starting, continuing and assisting with these benefits.
