The result is abnormally shaped red blood cells that will stick in the blood vessels. • Carriers of sickle cell disease, will actually have half of their blood cells sickle shaped and half round because the genes for sickle and round cells are co-dominant. • Carriers of sickle cell anemia are generally symptom free
