OBJECTIVES 1. Identify the components needed to establish computer-assisted communication 2. Describe computer communication modalities 3. Identify security threats when using email 4. Send email messages and attachments 5. Join an electronic discussion group 6. Access newsgroups, bulletin boards, chat rooms and online social networking communities

Components Needed for Computer. Assisted Communication • Sender and receiver must have appropriate hardware, software and connection • Network • Consists of all computers and related devices that are connected together • Electronic Mail • Email is a way to send messages to others electronically • Header and the body

Email Etiquette (Netiquette) • Start the message with a greeting • Include only what is appropriate for others to read • Be clear and concise • Keep it short • Always specify the content of the message • Never type in all capital letters
