GOALS • YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTION AFTER SETTING A GOAL • GOALS GIVE YOU DIRECTION • GOALS ARE PERSONAL AND UNIQUE AND THEY ALLOW YOU TO TAKE CHARGE AND PLAN HOW YOU WANT THINGS TO BE • GOAL SETTING IS A LIFE SKILL
THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF GOALS • SHORT TERM: – Goals that can be achieved in a short time • MEDIUM TERM: – Goals that you aim to achieve in 1 -3 years – Shorter than long term goals and longer than short term goals • LONG TERM: – Life goals (3+ years)
SMART goals • Specific- it must not be general, you must know exactly what your goal is • Measurable- you can measure your progress • Achievable- this goal is attainable • Realistic- you can achieve this goal, it is within your reach • Timely- you can achieve this goal in a given time frame

STEPS IN PLANNING AND GOALSETTING • STEP 1: WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS • STEP 2: CHECK TO SEE IF IT IS A SMART GOAL • STEP 3: MAKE AN ACTION PLAN TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL • STEP 4: DO IT. CARRY OUT YOUR ACTION PLAN • STEP 5: EVALUATE IF YOU HAVE ACHIEVED YOUR GOAL

PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS • STEP 1: write down your problems and possible solutions • STEP 2: define the problem • STEP 3: gather information about the problem • STEP 4: list as many possible solutions as you can • STEP 5: think of the effects of each solution • STEP 6: choose the best solution

WELL-BEING AND RELATIONSHIPS • WELL-BEING MEANS YOU ARE HAPPY, HEALTHY AND HAVE A GOOD QUALITY OF LIFE • YOUR WELL-BEING IS EFFECTED BY YOUR RELATIONSHIPS • YOUR RELATIONSHIPS MEAN YOUR LINKS, CONNECTIONS OR ASSOCIATIONS WITH OTHER PEOPLE SUCH AS FAMILY AND FRIENDS • RELATIONSHIPS CHANGE!!
• Relationships include family members, friends, casual relationships, formal relationships as well as romantic relationships • Each of your types of relationships will be different and they will change as you grow older • Relationships can contribute to your wellbeing or it can be detrimental to your wellbeing • Eveyone in a relationship has rights as well as responsibilities (see table 3 on page 16) Do act 13 on pg 15!
