Different types of Natural Resources Biotic resources: Biotic resources include all living organisms on the Earth - the flora and the fauna. For example; animals, birds, fish, and marine organisms. Abiotic resources: Abiotic resources are the non-living substances used by human beings. For example; soil air and sunlight.

Actual resources: Actual resources are those that have been surveyed, their quantity and quality determined, and are being used in present times. For example, black soil and natural gas. Potential resources: Potential resources are known to exist and may be used in the future. For example, petroleum may exist in many parts of India and Kuwait that have sedimentary rocks, but until the time it is actually drilled out and put into use, it remains a potential resource , bio fuel.

Renewable resources: A renewable resource is a resource which can be used repeatedly

Renewable resources: A renewable resource is a resource which can be used repeatedly and replaced naturally. Renewable energy almost never runs out. For example: solar energy Non - renewable resources: Non-renewable are resources of economic value that cannot be readily replaced at the speed with which they are being consumed. Examples of Non-renewable resources include crude oil, natural gas, coal, and uranium

Ubiquitous resources: A Ubiquitous resource is a natural resource that is available just about anywhere you live. Air, wind, water are all Ubiquitous resources. Localised resources: Localised resources are those which are unevenly distributed among the world and are only concentrated in some areas. Gold, diamonds and silver are some examples.

Human made Resources Human made resources are items or substances that have value

Human made Resources Human made resources are items or substances that have value to human lives that do not occur in the natural world. Examples of Human made resources include plastic, paper, soda, sheet metal, rubber and brass.

Worksheet 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Define Resources. Name any two natural resources. Distinguish between : biotic resources and abiotic resources. How can we broadly classify resources? What are human made resources ? Give examples. Write a short note on conserving resources. Give two examples of renewable resources. What are human resources?
