Scope of Practice • Although personal trainers do not fall under the professions that are required to use HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) it is important to stick to HIPAA standards. • Always ensure the clients confidentiality around their medical information by storing information in a locked file cabinet or password protected electronic file. * • The client is in charge of who has access to medical history. • Do not share information about your clients unless you have a written note indicating permission to do so.
