CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 • Starting April 1, 2021 some policies and procedures will change, due to COVID-19, in regards to the Chaplaincy program at all ARH facilities. • In order to ensure the safety of the patients, staff and the Chaplains of our facilities we are changing or modifying some of the requirements and procedures for conducting visitations. • Initially our visitations will be limited until further reduction in the number of positive COVID-19 cases are realized, the positivity rate decreases and/or the number of people receiving the vaccine increases to a point in which herd immunity is accomplished. • All Chaplains are required to complete the POST COVID-19 training prior to being able to conduct visitations at any ARH facility. • When entering any facility the Chaplain must complete any and all pre-entrance procedure established by that facility.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 • Anyone entering ARH facility must be masked. • Employees waiting in line for screening must be masked Clinical Areas • All staff MUST be wearing mask when they are within 6 feet of someone. • Staff working in clinical areas must wear procedural mask. • Do not touch front of mask. Mask cannot be worn off chin or hanging around neck. • Practice social distance maintain at least 6 feet distance of anyone when mask is off (breaks, lunches). • Perform hand hygiene before donning and doffing. • Follow specific PPE procedures when visiting with COVID-19 patients.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 Non-Clinical Care Areas • Facemask MUST be worn (procedural or cloth). Cloth mask must be laundered daily. • Mask removal is permitted in private offices with closed door. • Practice social distancing: Maintain at least 6 feet distance of anyone. Mask can be off when eating. • Perform hand hygiene when taking mask off or putting on.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 • Before a Chaplain is allowed to visit at any of our facilities that must first have received the COVID-19 vaccine and provide proof of such vaccines to the Director of Chaplaincy Services. • The Chaplain must wait at least 14 days after the 2 nd vaccine from either Moderna or Pfizer and after the 14 th day of receiving the single dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 • Visitation should start with the Chaplain doing a short scripture reading and prayer over the hospital intercom system. • Make sure the system is free and keep the message short as not to interfere with normal hospital operations.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 Patients • Chaplain’s would be restricted on visitation with COVID-19 patients to “End Of Life” situations only. • Hospital staff shall be advised and monitor the visit with the COVID-19 patient.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 • Full personal protective equipment must be worn at all times during visitation. • 6 feet of separation between the patient and the Chaplain must be maintained at all times. • NO PHYSICAL CONTACT will be permit at anytime. • Visitation is limited to one COVID-19 patient per day. No other visits that day will be permitted.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 Non-COVID Patient Visitations • Visitations is limited to one floor or department per day. • All necessary PPE must be worn while visiting any patient. • Face mask must be worn at all times. • Social distancing of 6 feet must be observed with each patient. • NO PHYSICAL CONTACT with any patient is permitted. • Proper hand washing before and after each patient visit must be completed.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 STAFF VISITATION • Chaplains may visit and talk with staff normally as long as social distancing of 6 feet was observed. • Face mask must be worn at all times. • NO PHYSICAL CONTACT with staff is allowed. • Handwashing is required before going into the patient area.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 CANCER CENTER STAFF • Staff visitation must be conducted with at least 6 feet of separation. • Face mask must be worn at all times. • NO PHYSICAL CONTACT with staff is allowed. • Handwashing is required prior to going into the patient areas.
CHAPLAIN’S VISITATION POST COVID-19 CANCER CENTER PATIENTS • Staff will assist and ask if any patient wants the Chaplain to pray with them. • Patient visits would be restricted to patients that asked for prayer. • Patient visitation must be conducted with at least 6 feet of separation. • NO PATIENT CONTACT is permitted • Handwashing is required prior to and after visitation with any patient.
