Channel Naming Working Group • ANSI/APCO/NPSTC Channel Naming Standard – Approved by ANSI as an ANSI National Standard last Thursday – Formal Press Release being planned for this week by APCO, NPSTC and OEC – Updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document will accompany Press Release – This completes another DHS/OEC NECP Goal • Dial into “The Future of Interoperability and P 25” webinar on Thursday being hosted by Glen Bischoff for Urgent Communications magazine. NPSTC is a federation of organizations whose mission is to improve public safety communications and interoperability through collaborative leadership. 2
Channel Naming Working Group • Channel Naming Standard update – Proposal from TX to pair national VHF Tactical Channels • Supported by other VHF states (CA, NE, OK, WY, etc) – Would develop three new named VHF pairs: • VTAC 11/VTAC 14 – 151. 1375/159. 4725 – this pairing has the maximum separation possible for the VTAC channels: 8. 335 MHz • VTAC 12/VTAC 13 – 154. 4525/158. 7375 - separation is 4. 285 MHz • VTAC 13/VTAC 14 – 158. 7375/159. 4725 – separation is 0. 735 MHz – duplexer required, but usable in PR/VI – Use 136. 5 Hz CTCSS on repeater input, CSQ for output – TACTICAL REPEATER USE ONLY (FB 2 T station class) – Overview paper released by Interoperability Committee on May 24 and circulated to list server. • Minor modification to standard so can be completed quickly • We need your input! Channel Naming Working Group • Channel Naming Standard update (continued) – Names VTAC 15, VTAC 16, VTAC 18 and VTAC 19 were considered. With hope for future additions of national VHF channels (including designating 155. 1600 MHz for national SAR), it was decided to keep these in reserve. – Propose following pairs (repeater input/output) • • • VTAC 33 = VTAC 11/VTAC 14 separation 8. 335 MHz VTAC 34 = VTAC 12/VTAC 13 separation 4. 285 MHz VTAC 35 = VTAC 13/VTAC 14 separation 0. 735 (PR/USVI) VTAC 36 = VTAC 14/VTAC 11 separation 8. 335 MHz VTAC 37 = VTAC 13/VTAC 12 separation 4. 285 MHz VTAC 38 = VTAC 14/VTAC 13 separation 0. 735 (PR/USVI) NPSTC is a federation of organizations whose mission is to improve public safety communications and interoperability through collaborative leadership. 4
