How did the city council attempt to solve the problems? • A network of high frequency (every 90 seconds) bus services used by 70% of the residents. • Buses are low floor, accessible vehicles. • The buses use alternatives fuels such as hydrogen or natural gas (using 30% less fuel) Task: Explain how the public transport system helps makes the city sustainable.
How did the city council attempt to solve the problems? • Recycling: 66% of the city's daily waste is recycled. • Green spaces: 21 -million square metres of parks, woods, gardens and squares within the city. The parks are located near rivers so that lakes in the parks are used to hold back floods and function as water flow regulators during the rainy season.
