What is CHAMPs? Guidelines and procedures to follow while in Mrs. Nettleton’s science classroom so that we may accomplish and learn more efficiently.
CHAMPs • C = Conversation • H = Help • A = Activity • M = Movement • P = Participation
Waiting for Mrs. Nettleton outside of her door (hallway) • C = yes, quietly with others in your immediate area. • H = ask a student or a teacher • A = None • M = stand against the lockers • P = remind other students to stay against the lockers
Entering Classroom • C = quietly with your tablemates • H = ask Mrs. Nettleton • A = check Warm Up and Assignment boards • M = immediately walk to seat and sit, classmates will pass out spirals. • P = remind other classmates of proper procedure
Warm Ups • C = Yes, with students at your table • H = ask tablemates then raise your hand • A = Warm Up Activity • M = No, stay in seat • P = Working on Warm Up
Announcements • C = Absolutely None • H = Wait for announcement to end • A = Know what information is being given • M = Absolutely None • P = Listening to speaker
During Tests • C = ABSOLUTELY NONE until everyone is finished • H = Raise hand continue with other questions • A = Taking test • M = No, I will pick up your tests! • P = Looking at your own paper, doing the best you can
While teacher or another student is talking • • • C = Absolutely none H = Listen first, then raise hand A = Active listening M = No P = taking notes and/or nodding head answering questions
During Classwork • C = Teacher’s discretion, talk only to other students at your table. No yelling across the room • H = Ask tablemates and then raise hand • A = Assigned class work • M = stay in seat unless given permission to get up • P = Complete assignment
