Major Modifications to Existing Programs • The Provincial Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) defines Major Modifications as changes including one or more of the following: • requirements for the program that differ significantly from those existing at the time of the previous cyclical program review; • significant changes to the learning outcomes; • significant changes to the faculty engaged in delivering the program and/or to the essential physical resources as may occur, for example, where there have been changes to the existing mode(s) of delivery

Major Modifications • In addition the IQAP provides further examples of changes that are substantive and require submission to ARC for review and recommendation to Senate for approval. • Examples of Major Modifications include: • deletion or merging of programs; • changes in admission or progression requirements; • the introduction of a new option (e. g. , new research-related exit requirement, course-only option at the master’s level) in a graduate program; • the offering of an existing program substantially online where it had previously been offered in face-to-face mode (or vice versa); • the introduction or deletion of a work experience, co-op option, internship or practicum, or portfolio as a program requirement; • the creation, deletion or re-naming of a field in a graduate program;

These activities include instances where the behaviour reflects a significant infraction within the context of clearly identified academic guidelines and procedures.

Academic Integrity – Chair’s Role • Notification to Registrar • Chair, placing a hold on the course • Notification to Student • In writing, informs students of the allegation of academic misconduct • Coordinates the logistics of the meeting between the student, the instructor and the Chair, who determines whether a misconduct is confirmed • Provides student with the opportunity to view the evidence in advance of the meeting and informed they can be accompanied by a member of the University community (not a relative) • Notification to Associate Dean/Dean’s Office • Following the meeting informs the Associate Dean of confirmation (or not) of the academic misconduct, and if appropriate, recommends a penalty
