What is Certification & Accreditation? Accreditation = Any North American Division Seventh-day Adventist Yearbook Entity that has a Planned Giving and Trust Services must be accredited. Being accredited means that program has shown that it adheres to the GC & NAD Policies regarding PG&TS and the 47 standards found in the PG&TS manual. Certification = An individual is employed by a SDA yearbook entity, has gone through the certification course and passed the final exam, has completed 30 hours of orientation and has kept up with the required amount of continuing education each year.

Who Needs to be Certified? Those who… • Perform a job that includes the administration of planned giving and/or trust services. • Actively authorize, develop, or manage any part of the PG & TS function on behalf of the legal entity. • Serve as a fiduciary with powers granted under authority by policy, standards, votes, Last Will and Testament, or Trust. • Provide educational or instructive information as to how the donor may support your organization through planned giving.

Certification Requirements Time Education Exam Internship Within 12 months of first employment by an SDA yearbook entity and actively engaging in Planned Giving & Trust Services all new personnel are to be certified Complete the Planned Giving & Trust Services Certification course Pass the qualifying examination with a score of 70% or better Complete 30 hours of orientation in a Planned Giving & Trust Services Department of an accredited organization other than your employing organization

Maintaining Certification • Must attend the GC/NAD PG&TS Conference • Continuing Education Hours must be completed • Must be employed by a Seventh -day Adventist yearbook institution • Employment must involve Planned Giving & Trust Services • Organization must have an accredited Planned Giving & Trust Services Program Maintaining My Certification

Continuing Education • OLD Policy • 60 Hours of Continuing Education over a three-year period • Prorated number of hours for the time employed • NEW Policy • 16 hours every year • If < 16 hours notified of shortfall • Following year must obtain 16 hours, then make up shortfall Continuing Education

So What Qualifies as CE? • Certification Classes, e. g. CSPG • Online PG&TS Classes • PG&TS Webinars • National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (NACGP) Programs • Employed by an organization in the SDA yearbook • The organization must be accredited • PGTRS program reviewed by GCAS • Employment must involve Planned Giving and Trust Services

What Happens When You Fail to Maintain Certification? • Notified you no longer meet the requirements for certification • Certification will be placed in an inactive status for up to five years • To become active, must fulfill all the requirements of maintaining certification Exclusive. Yash

Accreditation Levels A = Adhering to all 47 standards www. ateamtuition. com B = Not complying with all 47 standards, but has demonstrated good faith efforts to comply and has initiated actions and/or implemented procedures indicating compliance will be achieved. angelikablogja. blogspot. com

What is the Accreditation Process? • Every 2 – 3 years GCAS will schedule a PG&TS Review • GCAS Will Ask Your Organization to Upload documents to their portal before they arrive • An appropriate number of auditors will spend some time at your organization reviewing your documents

What is the Accreditation Process? • A Trust Review Report will be produced listing the findings • The Certification and Accreditation Committee will use the report to determine the PG&TS Program’s Accreditation Level

What Happens with Level A? • If the organization’s last review was less than an A then the next review will be scheduled in two years • If the organization received a Level A in the previous review then the next review will be scheduled in three years www. ateamtuition. com
