Centralist Mexico won its freedom from Spain in 1821, but it created a “Central Government. ” The main government had all of the power. States could not make any decisions. But then Mexican citizens got tired of: 1. the bad economy 2. not having any say in government policies 3. having Iturbide as their leader (dictatorship) People wanted to END the EMPIRE! They wanted a FEDERAL GOVERNMENT that was governed by a CONSTITUTION
