Central Electricity Authority Measures Taken By Govt. Of India o Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) o Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) o Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY) o National Smart Grid Mission (NSGM) o Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA)
Central Electricity Authority Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) Scheme launched on 3 rd December, 2014 for o Separation of agriculture and non-agriculture feeders o Strengthening and augmentation of sub-transmission & distribution infrastructure in rural areas , including metering of distribution transformers/ feeders/ consumers. o RGGVY subsumed under DDUGJY.
Central Electricity Authority Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) o The components at (i) and (ii) of the above scheme have an estimated outlay of Rs. 43033 crore including a budgetary support of Rs. 33453 crore from Government of India during the entire implementation period. o For component (iii), Govt has already approved the scheme cost of Rs. 39275 crore including a budgetary support of Rs. 35447 crore.
Central Electricity Authority DECENTRALIZED DISTRIBUTED GENERATION (DDG) Ø DDG are for remote villages where grid connectivity is either not possible or not feasible. Ø A provision of subsidy of Rs. 1000 Crore has been kept for DDG projects under RGGVY 12 th Plan. Ø DDG projects may be based on Biofuels, Biomass gasification, Solar Photo Voltaic, Small Hydro, Biogas or Wind solar hybrid systems etc. ØState Govt / Utilities require to invite developers for DDG projects and developer would also do O&M for 5 years
Central Electricity Authority Approved projects under DDUGJY o As on 31. 10. 2016, DDUGJY Projects( including DDG) at an estimated cost of Rs. 1, 08, 590 Crores have been approved and Rs 43, 614 Crores have been released to the states.
Central Electricity Authority Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) Scheme launched on 3 rd December, 2014 for : i. Strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks in the urban areas. ii. Metering of distribution transformer/feeders/consumers in the urban areas. iii. RAPDRP Subsumed The components at (i) and (ii) above have an estimated outlay of Rs. 32, 612 crore including a budgetary support of Rs. 25, 354 crore. Approved Outlay for RAPDRP for Rs. 44, 011 crore including a budgetary support of Rs. 22, 727 crore has been carried forward.
Central Electricity Authority STATUS OF IMPLEMENTATION OF IPDS • Under Part A(IT), 1405 projects at the cost of Rs. 5437. 56 crore have been approved for 30 State/UT and Rs. 3012. 16 crores have been disbursed. • Under Part A of R-APDRP, 72 SCADA Projects worth Rs. 1556. 23 Crs. have been approved for 20 States/UTs and Rs 464. 61 crores have been disbursed. • Under Part-B of R-APDRP, 1229 projects worth Rs. 31028. 62 Cr have been approved for 27 States/UTs and Rs 5486. 26 crores have been disbursed. • IPDS Projects for 29 states/ UTs covering 3583 towns at an estimated cost of Rs. 25719. 54 Crores have been sanctioned by the Monitoring Committee
Central Electricity Authority UDAY (Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana) o Scheme for Operational and Financial Turnaround of DISCOMs launched on 20 th November, 2015. o Applies only to State-owned DISCOMs. DISCOM for the purpose of this Scheme may include combined Generation, transmission and distribution Undertakings. o Participating States would undertake measures to achieve operational and financial turnaround of DISCOMs. o State DISCOMs will comply with the Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) outstanding since 1 st April, 2012
Central Electricity Authority UDAY (Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana) o States shall take over 75% of DISCOM debt as on 30 September 2015 over two years - 50% of DISCOM debt shall be taken over in 2015 -16 and 25% in 2016 -17. o Government of India will not include the debt taken over by the States as per the above scheme in the calculation of fiscal deficit of respective States in the financial years 2015 -16 and 2016 -17. o As on Date 17 States/ UTs have Signed Mo. Central Electricity Authority National Smart Grid Mission(NSGM) o Mission launched on 27 th March, 2015. o Mission is for development of smart grid in smart cities, development of micro grids, consumer engagements and training & capacity building etc. o Under NSGM, 30% funding will be provided for development of smart grid in Smart cities and taking up pilots for micro grids. o The total approved cost for NSGM for 12 th plan is Rs. 980 crore including a budgetary support of Rs. 338 crores.

Central Electricity Authority Initiatives for Energy Efficiency o Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) to provide LED bulbs to domestic consumers with a target to replace 770 Million incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs by March, 2019. o Street Lighting National Programme (SLNP) to replace 35 Million conventional street lights with smart and energy efficient LED street lights by March, 2019. o Star Rating of Distribution transformers & Consumer Appliances (A. C, Refrigerator, fans etc. ) o DISCOMs added as designated consumers under PAT- II
Central Electricity Authority Initiatives for Energy Efficiency o Under Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) , 17. 92 Crores LED bulbs have already been provided to domestic consumers by 22 nd November, 2016 o Under Street Lighting National Programme (SLNP), 14. 23 Lakh energy efficient LED street lights have been installed by 22 nd November, 2016.
Central Electricity Authority Initiatives taken by CEA for smart grid and integration of renewables with the Grid Finalized the Minimum Functional Specifications of Low Cost Single Phase Smart Meters as per Indian requirement. Based on these, Indian standards for single phase Smart Meter have been notified. n n Finalized Fuctional Requirements of Advanced Metering Infrastructure Regulations on technical standards for connectivity of the distributed generation resources to the grid at voltage level below 33 KV have been notified. n Amendment of the existing Regulation to include technical standards for connectivity of renewable to the grid at voltage level 33 KV and above have been notified. n Amendments in existing Metering Regulation to include metering for renewable energy plants connected at LT level have been notified. n
Central Electricity Authority 24 x 7 - Power For All o o o Government of India has taken a joint initiative with respective state Governments and have prepared State specific documents for providing 24 x 7 power supply to all households/homes, industrial & commercial consumers and adequate supply of power to Agricultural consumer as per state policy. The hours of supply to agriculture sector would be decided by respective State Govts as per the requirement. Documents for 34 states/ UTs have been signed and documents for Tamil Nadu & Uttar Pradesh are under approval by respective State Govts.
