Objectives of the COE • To develop core competences in Synthesis, Characterization and Processing of Nanocomposites, Polymer and metal matrix composites and Memory Materials to offer a research platform that could lead to a wide spectrum of innovations. • To develop a community of resourceful individuals in advanced materials. • To disseminate research findings to the stake holders and to the nation. • To be a source of information about materials, processes and technologies. • To provide high quality education programs in Post-graduation and Ph. D in advanced materials science and technology. • To conduct seminars, conferences and other educational activities related to the synthesis, fabrication, and processing of advanced materials as well as applications. • To establish strategic multidisciplinary body in basic sciences and engineering to promote faculty collaborations across institutes, industries.

Overall progress against objectives of COE To disseminate research findings to the stake holders and to the nation. The research findings are disseminated through publication of research work in National and International journals, National and International conferences and Technology Transfer program to rural areas
Academic Activities under COE To provide high quality education programs in Post-graduation and Ph. D in advanced materials science and technology. • Developments in the Master Programme due to Co. E o Started new Post-graduation program, M. Tech in Manufacturing science and Engineering under Center of excellence. Intake -24 • Curriculum development, Teaching and Research assistantships o The PG courses at BMSCE is accorded Autonomy status from the current year 2016 -2017 o Curriculum is being developed for the course in the area of Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. Courses like Composite Materials, Nanocomposites materials, Nano materials, smart materials, coating methods and materials, synthesis of advance materials are given importance in curriculum development. o 17 PG-students of M. Tech, Manufacturing science and Engineering are awarded Teaching assistantships under COE (2014 -15 Batch) o All PG students of 2014 batch are doing their M. Tech project work in the area of Advanced Materials. o 20 Students are admitted for the academic year 2015 -2016. 19 Students are awarded Teaching assistantships under COE (2015 -16 Batch) o 4 -Research scholars are awarded Research assistantships under COE • Developments in the Doctoral Programs of the Institute on account of the Co. E o 4 -Full time and 14 -Part time research scholars have registered for their Ph. D under Center of excellence in the area of Advanced Materials.
