WHY DOES CDAR EXIST? Who does CDAR Serve? Students with Disabilities How Does CDAR Provide Access? Assign reasonable accommodations What are Accommodations? Adjustments or changes designed to provide students with disabilities an equal opportunity to participate in the university experience through access in courses, programs, activities, or services. Why do Accommodations Matter? The University of Idaho is required to provide equal and integrated access to individuals with disabilities to be in compliance with federal law (Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, & the Fair Housing Act). See FSH 6400 for the UI student accommodation policy. CDAR
HOW ACCOMMODATIONS ARE ASSIGNED Student Self-identify as having a disability and needing accommodation CDAR Meet with student to assess eligibility and assign reasonable accommodations Instructor Facilitate accommodations as identified by CDAR and work with student Student Communicate with instructor and CDAR regarding accommodation needs and follow procedures for accessing assigned accommodations CDAR Support instructors and students by providing resources and answering questions CDAR
CDAR ACCESS PORTAL • Single sign-on • Access through Vandalweb or www. uidaho. edu/cdarfaculty • Overview gives a quick breakdown of students’ accommodations in all courses you teach. • Expanded search lets you search for a specific student and filter by accommodation. • Export as CSV file to more easily work with data. CDAR
TESTING Alternate Testing Agreement • • Allows faculty to provide CDAR with exam instructions for entire semester. See www. uidaho. edu/cdarfaculty for an example. Students cannot schedule exams until ATA has been completed. Instructors can alter ATA at any point in semester. STUDENTS’ COURSES VIEW • Allows instructors to see details of students that have scheduled exams with CDAR. • Upload and download exams. CDAR
ALT FORMAT • List of textbooks being processed by TEXT CDAR NOTETAKING • Shows if a notetaker has been assigned, and name of notetaker. • Allows professors to download notes for quality assurance. DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING • Gives name of addition people who will be in classroom (captionist / ASL translator) CDAR
