Profile of Urban Areas – India • Maharashtra has the largest urban population (50, 827, 531 persons) • NCT Delhi has the largest proportion of urban population (97. 50%) (Provisional) Population (in million) • Only seven States/UTs have more population living in urban areas than in rural areas.
