Beauty and the Beast Introduction: The introduction starts off instrumental such as, piano, guitar and violins. The piano starts by playing the melody. The melody stays consistent throughout the entire song. 0: 17 -0: 40 Verse 1: Celine Dion sings verse 1. The same melody is used the same in lines 3 and 4. Lines 1, 2, and 5 also have the same melody but the voice is rising. Celine starts out soft and slowly builds on each line. It sounds like she is simply telling a story. The melodic rise is conjunct and very smooth both in pitch and rhythm. 0: 42 -1: 01 Verse 2: Peabo Bryson sings verse 2. Just as in verse 1, lines 1, 2, and 5 have the same melody but the voice is rising and getting higher. Lines 3 and 4 have the same melody and their voice stays the same tempo. In line 5 their voice and the melody hit soprano. At 0: 58 Celine and Peabo come together and sing “Beauty and the Beast” on a very high note. 1: 03 -1: 27 Chorus: Both, Celine and Peabo, sing the chorus together. The melody stays the same in all 5 lines.
1: 28 -1: 52 Chorus Add-On: The chorus ends and the singers sing “whoas” and “ah” as the instruments play. The violin is the main instrument used in this part of the song. It adds a lot of emotion and builds the song for when they repeat the chorus again. 1: 53 -2: 16 Chorus: The chorus is repeated again. They once again added a different kind of variety to their voice while the melody of the instruments stay the same. Both of them sing lines 1, 3, and 5. Peabo sings line 2 and Celine sings line 4. 2: 46 -3: 24 Bridge: The bridge has a total of 9 lines. In this part Celine and Peabo switch singing lines and then come together on lines 5, 6, and 9. In between lines they add “whoas” to add emotion to the song. The melody slows down in lines 1 and 2. It builds up until Line 6. Then on line 7 is slows down and builds up again when the sing together on line 9. The instruments play for about 20 seconds keeping the melody steady. Then at 3: 45 -3: 57 Celine and Peabo sing “Beauty and the Beast”. The instruments continue to play until 4: 05.
Because You Loved Me 0: 00 -0: 43 Introduction: Right from the beginning Celine Dion starts singing and the piano starts to play at the same time. Line 1 and 2 have the same melody. Along with Line 3 and 4 have the same melody but different than Line 1 and 2. This pattern continues as the lines go on. The last line, line 11, is sung on a higher not and the melody goes up and down. The piano’s melody stays the same even though the lines change melody. In this song it sounds like she is telling someone how she feels. 0: 44 -1: 16 Chorus: Celine Dion goes right from the introduction straight into the chorus. The pattern is the same as the introduction lines. Lines 1 and 2 have the same melody and rhyme. Lines 3 and 4 are just the same. This pattern stays the same in all 8 lines. After the chorus and in between the lines “whoas” and “ahs” are added for more emotional and adds character to the song. 1: 21 -2: 04 Bridge: As the song goes on the tempo gets higher. The melody moves up and down in her voice but the piano remains the same melody. The pattern continues through the bridge of all the other sections of the song. Every two lines rhyme and have the same melody. On line 10 the very last word “You” Celine holds that not out for 2 seconds and continues to the next chorus.
2: 06 -2: 35 Chorus: The chorus is repeated again following the bridge. The pattern is the same as the chorus above. In this chorus it has more drama and emphasis. This is the high point of the song. The melody of Celines voice and the piano goes up in tempo. 2: 37 -3: 08 Verse 1: In verse 1, her voice changes and sounds like she is stating something and her voice is stern. The lines stay the same melody as her voice goes up and down. In the last line, line 6, the word “you” is sung and her voice goes up and down while holding out the note. 3: 09 -4: 11 Chorus: The chorus is repeated two more times with the choir singing it and Celine singing the last couple words of each line. 4: 05 -4: 30 Chorus Add-On: This part has two lines but it is repeated twice. The second time she repeats it she holds out the not on the word “me”. Slowly her voice fades away along with the piano.
My Heart Will Go On 0: 00 -0: 20 Introduction: The introduction is just the instruments playing. The instruments that are playing are the piano, flute, violins, clarinet, and cello. All the instruments together make the song start very emotional. 0: 21 -0: 36 Verse 1: This part consist of three lines. The tone of her voice is very soft and emotional. The melody of her voice goes up and down and the instruments go up and down in tempo. 0: 41 -0: 56 Verse 2: This part also consists of three lines. In the last line she holds out the word “On” and has a lot of emotion in her voice of love. The melody of the instruments continues the same. 0: 59 -1: 39 Chorus: In the chorus each line is sung very slow and the instruments stay at the same tempo the whole time. Her voice goes up and down in tempo but the melody is the same. She is really talking to someone and telling her feelings about them and stays very emotional. Line 5 she goes up and down in tempo and holds out the words “on and on”. This part has a lot of drama added to it.
1: 49 -2: 24 Bridge: The first two lines, line 1 and 2, have the same melody and tempo. In line 3, the tempo of her voice goes up and holds out the last note for more drama. List pattern continues with the next 3 lines. Line 4 and 5 have the same melody. Line 6 is more emphasized and the tempo goes up in her voice. 2: 26 -3: 08 Chorus: The chorus is repeated once again. In this chorus it is more dramatic. What makes it more dramatic is the choir joins in with Celine Dion. As she sings the chorus the choir is in the background repeating the last couple words of each line. This is what builds the song and the storyline of the songs. 3: 25 -4: 30 Chorus Add-On: The chorus add on is starting to end the song and adding her last words to the song and what she is saying to the person she is singing to. It is very emotional and show she really cares. In each line the melody and tempo in her voice changes. It increases with emotion and love. Line 5 is really soft and mellow and slowly fades on the last word. For the last 20 seconds, Celine adds “hmm” for more dramatic ending. The song slowly fades away.
