FIRST READING Ex 32: 7 -11, 13 -14 (Please be seated) A reading from the Book of Exodus The Lord spoke to Moses, ‘Go down now, because your people whom you brought out of Egypt have apostasised. They have been quick to leave the way I marked out for them; they have made themselves a calf of molten metal and have worshipped it and offered it sacrifice. 1/5
“Here is your God, Israel, ” they have cried, “who brought you up from the land of Egypt!” I can see how headstrong these people are! Leave me, now; my wrath shall blaze against them and devour them; of you, however, I will make a great nation. ” 2/5
But Moses pleaded with the Lord his God. ‘Lord, ’ he said, ‘why should your wrath blaze out against this people of yours whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with arm outstretched and mighty hand? 3/5
Remember Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, your servants to whom by your own self you swore and made this promise: I will make your offspring as many as the stars of heaven, and all this land which I promised I will give to your descendants, and it shall be their heritage for ever. ” 4/5
So the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he threatened. The Word of the Lord. ALL: Thanks be to God. 5/5
RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Ps. 51: 3 -4, 12 -13, 17, 19) RESPONSE: I will leave this place and go to my father. ALL: I will leave this place and go to my father. 1/4
1. Have mercy on me, O God, in your kindness In your compassion blot out my offence. O wash me more and more from my guilt and cleanse me from my sin. ALL: I will leave this place and go to my father. 2/4
2. A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence, nor deprive me of your holy spirit. ALL: I will leave this place and go to my father. 3/4
3. O Lord, open my lips and my mouth shall declare your praise. My sacrifice is a contrite spirit; a humbled, contrite heart you will not spurn. ALL: I will leave this place and go to my father. 4/4
SECOND READING (Tm. 1: 12 -17) A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Timothy I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, and who judged me faithful enough to call me into his service even though I used to be a blasphemer and did all I could to injure and discredit the faith. 1/5
Mercy, however, was shown me, because until I became a believer I had been acting in ignorance; and the grace of our Lord filled me with faith and with the love that is in Christ Jesus. 2/5
Here is a saying that you can rely on and nobody should doubt: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. I myself am the greatest of them; and if mercy has been shown to me, 3/5
it is because Jesus Christ meant to make me the greatest evidence of his inexhaustible patience for all the other people who would later have to trust in him to come to eternal life. 4/5
To the eternal King, the undying, invisible and only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. The Word of the Lord ALL: Thanks be to God 5/5
(Please rise) GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Alleluia, Alleluia! May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten the eyes of our mind, so that we can see what hope his call holds for us. Alleluia!
GOSPEL READING The Lord be with you. ALL : And with your spirit. A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke ALL: Glory to you, O Lord. (Lk, 15: 1 -10)
The tax collectors and the sinners were all seeking the company of Jesus to hear what he had to say, and the Pharisees and the scribes complained, ‘This man’ they said ‘welcomes sinners and eats with them. ’ So he spoke this parable to them: 1/4
‘What man among you with a hundred sheep, losing one, would not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the missing one till he found it? And when he found it, would he not joyfully take it on his shoulders and then, when he got home, call together his friends, and neighbours? 2/4
“Rejoice with me”, he would say, “I have found my sheep that was lost. ” In the same way, I tell you, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine virtuous men who have no need of repentance.
‘Or again, what woman with ten drachmas would not, if she lost one, light a lamp and sweep out the house and search thoroughly till she found it? And then, when she had found it, call together friends and neighbours?
“Rejoice with me, ” she would say “I have found the drachma I lost. ” In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing among the angels of God over one repentant sinner. ’ The Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. 3/4
HOMILY
PROFESSION OF FAITH I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, Born of the Father before all ages. 1/6
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, 2/6
(all bow saying: ) and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, 3/6
and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, And his kingdom will have no end. 4/6
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. 5/6
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. ALL: Amen. 6/6

PREFACE Celebrant: Therefore, overcome with paschal joy, every land, every people exults in your praise and even the heavenly Powers, with the angelic hosts, sing together the unending hymn of your glory, as they acclaim:
SANCTUS (HOLY) Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts Heaven and earth are full of your glory Hosanna in the highest Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord Hosanna in the highest
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I Celebrant: To you, therefore, most merciful Father, we make humble prayer and petition through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord: That you accept and bless these gifts, these offerings, these holy and unblemished sacrifices,
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I which we offer you firstly for your holy catholic Church. Be pleased to grant her peace, to guard, unite and govern her throughout the whole world, together with your servant Francis, our Pope and William, our Archbishop, and all those who, holding to the truth, hand on the catholic and apostolic faith.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I Remember, Lord, your servants, and all gathered here, whose faith and devotion are known to you. For them, we offer you this sacrifice of praise or they offer it for themselves and all who are dear to them: for the redemption of their souls, in hope of health and wellbeing, and paying their homage to you, the eternal God, living and true.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I Celebrating the most sacred day on which your Only Begotten Son, our Lord, placed at the right hand of your glory our weak human nature, which he had united to himself, and in communion with those whose memory we venerate, especially the glorious ever-Virgin Mary, Mother of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ,
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I and blessed Joseph, her Spouse, your blessed Apostles and Martyrs, Peter and Paul, Andrew, and all your Saints; we ask that through their merits and prayers, in all things we may be defended by your protecting help. Therefore, Lord, we pray: graciously accept this oblation of our service, that of your whole family;
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I order our days in your peace, and command that we be delivered from eternal damnation and counted among the flock of those you have chosen.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I Be pleased, O God, we pray, to bless, acknowledge, and approve this offering in every respect; make it spiritual and acceptable, so that it may become for us the Body and Blood of your most Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I On the day before he was to suffer, he took bread in his holy and venerable hands, and with eyes raised to heaven to you, O God, his almighty Father, giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to his disciples, saying:
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took this precious chalice in his holy and venerable hands, and, once more giving you thanks, he said the blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I holy victim, this spotless victim, the holy Bread of eternal life and the Chalice of everlasting salvation. Be pleased to look upon these offerings with a serene and kindly countenance, and to accept them, as once you were pleased to accept the Gifts of Abel the just, the sacrifice of Abraham,
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I our father in faith, and the offering of your high priest Melchizedek, a holy sacrifice, spotless victim. In humble prayer we ask you, almighty God: command that these gifts be borne by the hands of your holy Angel to your altar on high in the sight of your divine majesty,
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I so that all of us, who through this participation at the altar receive the most holy Body and Blood of your Son, may be filled with every grace and heavenly blessing.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I Remember also, Lord, your servants, who have gone before us with the sign of faith and rest in the sleep of peace. Grant them, O Lord, we pray, and all who sleep in Christ, a place of refreshment, light and peace.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I To us, also, your servants, who, though sinners, hope in your abundant mercies, graciously grant some share and fellowship with your holy Apostles and Martyr: with John the Baptist, Stephen, Matthias, Barnabas, and all your Saints; admit us, we beseech you,
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER I into their company, not weighing our merits, but granting us pardon, through Christ our Lord. Through whom you continue to make all these good things, O Lord; you sanctify them, fill them with life, bless them, and bestow them upon us.
