CEB Learning & Development Leadership Council Employee Guide: Identify Your Peer Network Four Types of Peers Instructions: A strong network is comprised of peers with varying similarity of skills and proximity to your work. These peers can be divided into four general groups, each of which provides unique value and support: enablers, collaborators, coaches, and mentors. Use the chart below to identify peer groups working on the same project as you. Same Projects Enablers Collaborators Who are they? Peer who have the same roles/skills as you and work on the same projects as you. Peer who make different contributions than you to the same projects that you are working on. Why are they valuable? Enablers provide task-related feedback and guidance/support based on their similar skill-sets and proximity to your work Collaborators provide role context, support coordination, and deliver project-related feedback based on their differing skill sets and proximity to your work. Peers who have similar roles/skills as you but work on different projects. Peers who have different roles/skills than you and work on different projects. Why are they valuable? Coaches provide guidance and advice based similar skills/experiences and visibility into other parts of the organization. Mentors provide broad organizational context, career coaching, and guidance based on their differing skill sets and visibility into other parts of the organization.
