The Review • This review was requested by Mayor Phil Goff in 2019. • The CCOs are being reviewed by an independent panel. • The review will be completed by July 2020. • The five CCOs covered by the review are: • • • Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED). Introduction to the Panel Members • The work is led by a panel of 3 independent people, who were appointed by the Governing Body on 12 December. • The panel's role is to identify what is working well, what is not working, and how we can improve. • It will provide recommendations to ensure: • the services CCOs provide are efficient and effective • their decision-making has satisfactory levels of political oversight, public transparency, and accountability. Introduction to the Panel Members Miriam Dean (Chair of the Panel) Miriam Dean CNZM QC is a highly regarded barrister, reviewer and director who is the independent chair of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme and director of Otakaro Limited, Crown Infrastructure Partners and the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. Recently she was chair of the Electricity Price Review (20182019) and lead reviewer of the Corrections Review into Prisoners Mail alongside being involved in several other government inquiries. Introduction to the Panel Members Doug Martin (Panel Member) Doug Martin is one of the most respected and experienced advisors on the organisational performance of public sector agencies in New Zealand. In 2013, he was appointed Crown Manager to Christchurch City Council helping it regain its accreditation as building consent authority. More recently he conducted independent reviews into the use of external security consultants by state sector agencies and into NZTA’s regulatory function and the Ministry of Transport’s monitoring of NZTA. Introduction to the Panel Members Leigh Auton (Panel Member) Leigh Auton is a local government specialist with both extensive senior executive and governance experience. He was the chief executive of Manukau City Council and Interim CEO at Tauranga City Council. He was appointed by the government to the Board of Inquiry for the proposed Men’s Prison at Wiri in 2011 and to the Review Panel for Kaiprara District Council in 2012 and is a former member of the local Government Commission. Leigh has extensive involvement with Te Rūnanga ā Iwi o Ngāpuhi and is currently Chair of the Group Audit and Risk Committee. CCO Review 2020 – BIDs Public Engagement Presentation

Public Engagement Section • The public engagement portion of the review will be happening alongside the Annual Plan consultation. There will be: • A web-page available allowing interested persons and groups the opportunity to submit their feedback. • An opportunity for interested parties to submit written submissions. • ‘Have your say events’ – community will be able to submit feedback and ask our team questions. • Four ‘Drop-In’ sessions where the Panel will meet with members of the public, allowing them to ask questions directly to the panel. How the BIDs can get involved • Take advantage of attending the ‘Drop in Sessions’ and the ‘Have Your Say’ Events. • Promote these sessions to your businesses, and get them to pass the information along to their customers. • Work together – form a collective submission.
