Soldier in White § They “shrank from him with a tenderhearted aversion…They gathered soberly in the farthest recess of the ward and gossiped about him in malicious, offended undertones, rebelling against his presence as a ghastly imposition and resenting him malevolently for the nauseating truth of which he was a bright reminder. ”
Justice § “There just doesn’t seem to be any logic to this system of rewards and punishment. ” § “I’d like to see all these things sort of straightened out, with each person getting exactly what he deserves. Colonel Cathcart § Not going to waste his time and energy …unless there was something in it for him
§ Place love of country above love of life § Why would a man, soldier, want to do that when the way they are treated is so despicably? They are expendable. There is no justice. Problems with faith (one nation under God)
