Case Study World Bank Group The World Bank
Case Study: World Bank Group The World Bank Group comprises five institutions that share a commitment to reducing poverty, increasing shared prosperity, and promoting sustainable development. With 189 member countries, it is one of the world’s largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries Solution – an Aon United approach Challenge – for both client and Aon has supported the World Bank for many years, across a wide range of solutions, including health and welfare, human capital, compensation, risk, and retirement. Our relationship has continued to grow and deepen over the years, due to our technical accuracy, consistency of deliverables, continuity of service, and responsiveness. Historically, the World Bank would bid projects for different practices individually, via a cumbersome procurement process – both for them and for us. Billing rates and legal terms and conditions where negotiated separately for each project, resulting in significant time spent on legal review by both parties and inconsistencies across solution lines. The World Bank recently implemented new contracting practices to manage costs, reduce competition times, and streamline the procurement process. They also designed their RFP to ensure that the respondents had a comprehensive knowledge of both retirement and active employee benefits across the US and internationally. Aon successfully pursued one of the framework agreements to continue to compete for future contracts within the health, human capital, and compensation solutions. Retirement was not part of the initial scope; however, the group agreed to abide by the framework in the spirit of Aon United, showing the client that we operate as one firm. Outcome – Better for all parties The new framework agreement simplified the process for both Aon and World Bank, and it positions the firm well for continuing to build the relationship. By taking an Aon United approach, bringing together a team from multiple geographies and solution areas, we have won the contract several times consecutively. This continuity of service, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, enabled World Bank to make better use of their resources and quickly engage Aon for special projects. This streamlined approach has saved our client time, without sacrificing our profitability. 1
