WHO IS ELIGIBLE? • Students who are… – Enrolled at CHS and is within

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? • Students who are… – Enrolled at CHS and is within the four years required to complete a diploma – Has not received a high school diploma – Has a minimum 3. 0 Academic Unweighted GPA – Has been accepted as a dual enrollment student at the institution desired • Must complete all steps for admission and enrollment by university deadlines.

MAINTAINING ELIGIBILITY • Must maintain a 2. 0 postsecondary GPA throughout participation in dual

MAINTAINING ELIGIBILITY • Must maintain a 2. 0 postsecondary GPA throughout participation in dual enrollment. – If a student falls below a 2. 0 postsecondary GPA. He or she will be removed from the DE program at the end of the academic year. – CHS will remove the student from DE even if the institution suggests probationary/conditional.

FUNDING • Up to 15 credit hours (5 classes) of approved dual enrollment coursework

FUNDING • Up to 15 credit hours (5 classes) of approved dual enrollment coursework per semester is free for eligible students. • Student Deadlines for Funding Term Deadline Fall by the 1 st day of 1 st semester Spring by the 1 st day of 2 nd semester Summer by May 31 st • Students may incur expenses for course-relates fees and supplies or optional fees charged by the postsecondary institution (such as parking or dining)

Futures) • Obtain high school counselor approval before any changes are made to the schedule • Complete dual enrollment financial aid application by the institution’s deadline • Sign a form authorizing the postsecondary institution to release student grades to CHS • Follow academic rules of the postsecondary institution and CHS Parent and Student Complete the (new) online dual enrollment agreement form in Ga. Futures Turn in a copy of the CHS local dual enrollment agreement form

STUDENT PARTICIPATION (COMPETITIVE ACTIVITIES) • DE students are still held to academic eligibility requirements for GHSAA interscholastic activities. – Required to pass lasses that carry the equivalent of at least 2. 5 Carnegie units counting toward graduation the semester immediately preceding participation. • Consider whether practices and games will interfere with the completion of dual enrollment course requirements

STUDENT PARTICIPATION BE A SELF-ADVOCATE! • Seek help and support from professors • Utilize academic support offered by the college • Communicate with parents and high school counselor about issues so that we can help you find a solution Parent’s role is to support and encourage the student to self-advocate. Professors will not share student information with parents the same way that the high school will.

College Hours High School Credit 1 -2 semester credit hours 0. 5 high school credit 3 -5 semester credit ours 1. 0 high school credit • CHS will award the highest numerical grade for the letter grade presented on the official college transcript (A=100, B=89, C=79, D=70). • Students will also receive an additional 0. 5 quality point (A=4. 5, B=3. 5, C=2. 5, D=2. 5).

INCOMPLETION, WITHDRAWAL, OR FAILURE • If a DE student withdraws from a DE course

INCOMPLETION, WITHDRAWAL, OR FAILURE • If a DE student withdraws from a DE course after the first 3 days of school at CHS, the withdrawing student will receive a grade of 50 in the course on the high school transcript, which is a permanent record. • If the student falls below the required minimum of 12 hours for full-time students and 6 hours for part-time students, the withdrawing student will receive a grade of 50 on the CHS transcript, and the student will be removed from the dual enrollment program at the end of that grading period/semester. • If an extenuating circumstance arises, the student should reach out to the high school counselor immediately.
