Carroll High School 2016 -2017 Dress Code “Dos and Don’ts”

Footwear is required. School specific rules apply. Shoes with laces must be tied. Jewelry that creates hazardous conditions shall not be worn. Eyeglasses with tinted lenses may not be worn inside the buildings except for medical reasons. Hair shall be neat and clean. Students should follow appropriate personal hygiene. Hats, caps, or head coverings shall not be worn in buildings. Unbuckled belts or suspenders are not allowed. Shirts are required to have sleeves that cover the entire shoulder. Togas, hospital gowns, pajama outfits, bedroom slippers are not allowed. Costumes or uniforms are not allowed except when approved. See-through clothing, plunging necklines, excessively tight shirts, or clothes that bare the midriff are not allowed. Decals, slogans, or sayings on clothes that contain references to illegal or immoral behaviors are not allowed. Decals, slogans, or sayings on clothes that advertise alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are not allowed. Lewd or vulgar sayings on clothing are not allowed. Skin-tight clothes are not allowed. Shorts, skirts or dresses shorter than fingertips in length in both the front and back are not allowed. Splits in skirts should not be higher than fingertips. Leggings may be worn with appropriate length dresses, skirts, or tunics. Sagging pants are not allowed. Oversized pants or pants not worn at the waist are not allowed. Clothes with holes or tears above the knee (that reveal skin or are considered a distraction) are not allowed. Male students are required to tuck in all shirts. Shirts must be tucked in all around the waist so that belt loops and/or waistband is visible. * Belts are recommended with pants that have belt loops. Only earrings in ears are acceptable. Students with facial piercings other than earrings are required to wear clear retainers. Tennis shoes must be worn in PE. Undergarments are required. Oversized clothing including: pants, coats, jackets, “hoodies”, sweatshirts, etc. are not allowed. Full-length coats will not be worn inside the school building.
