What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? ● ● ● Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition that causes pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand arm It occurs when one of the major nerves (the median nerve) is squeezed, irritated, compressed, or inflamed as it travels through the wrist In most patients CTS gets worse over time so the earlier it’s diagnosed and treated the better

How to Avoid CTS ● Keep wrists straight or in a neutral position. ● Avoid holding an object the same way for long period of time ● Adjust your desk, chair, and keyboard so that your forearms are level with your work surface. ● Wear a splint at night to keep your wrist straight while sleeping ● Minimize repetitive hand movements. ● Alternate between activities or tasks to reduce the strain on your hands and wrists.
