Levels of Education I. Entry Level Jobs • No extra or additional education other than previous experiences • May require on the job training • My be able to begin job in high school • Baby Sitter, Camp Counselor, Home Health Aides, Recreation Leaders
Post Secondary Education Terms • Major =Academic subject area in which a student wishes to specialize • Minor = Academic subject area requiring fewer courses than a major • Liberal Arts = Studies such as language, literature, or philosophy that are intended to provide general knowledge and develop thinking schools • Postsecondary = Studies beyond high school • Postgraduate = Studies beyond a 4 year college
Levels of Education II. Intermediate Level Specialize in a skill or subject area of interest. Need few months to two years of training or education Can attend: 1. Vocational/Trade School = Provides hands-on training. Earn a certificate 2. Community or Private Two Year College = Earn an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Sciences (AS) Degree
Levels of Education III. Advanced Level = Four years of education or more Must Attend: 1. Four year public or private colleges 2. University = Big schools with several colleges that can offer undergraduate and graduate degrees
