Students Placements (Stagiaire) ESAC traineeship v Students completing their Bachelors' degree or are Masters degree students. v Gain experience in the space sector as part of their studies. Fulfils internship requirements for graduation. National Trainee Programmes v Bilateral agreements between ESA and the respective national entities. v Target: young graduates from Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg, Portugal and Switzerland with a recent Masters degree in one of ESA’s technical fields of specialisation v On-the-job training under the supervision and guidance of a tutor. v 2 years, with an evaluation at the end of the 1 st year. v About 30 national trainees every year.
Young Graduate Trainees (YGT) v Recent graduates with Masters Degree and limited professional experience v Prepares the YGT for a job afterwards in Europe’s space industry and research institutes. v It aims, for example, at engineers, physicists, biologists or medical graduates, but also business graduates and lawyers. v 1 year contract. Exceptionally, can be extended for a second year. v Trainee Opportunities advertised mid-Nov on the ESA web site. Interviews Feb/March. Start date between June - Sept. Ø 2018: 17 November – 16 December v 85 traineeships annually - across all establishments. v 3000 applications
Research Fellowship Programme v Recently attained doctorate (Ph. D) in a relevant field v Preference given to nationals from over-represented countries. v Carry out advanced research related to space science, space applications and space technology. v 2 year contract, usually extended into a third year in the Science directorate v Approx. 50 Research Fellows every year, 22 in D/Sci

Networking Partnering Initiative (NPI) v Doctoral and post-doctoral research fellowship programme v Candidates Masters Degree in a field closely connected to space activities. v Up to 3 years for Ph. D students, 2 years for Post-Doctoral, both with a mandatory stay at ESA establishment (at least 6 month up to 1 year) v Candidate will be employed by university/research institute v Average selection is ~20 NPI students per year
