Demonstrate Knowledge of the Job & Company • Keep it simple • Tailor your resume walk to the job: Look at job description and pull out skills they are seeking. Highlight these in your resume walk. • Examples: – “Maintaining client relationships was key in this role, much like it is in consulting. ” – “The marketing lessons I learned from that experience will apply nicely to a brand management role at Hershey. ” – At conclusion of resume walk: “That brings me to today and interviewing for this financial consulting role. Nail Your Content and Transitions • Start with college: (10 seconds) – Why you choose this school or major – Academic honors – Significant involvement in sports or activities • Professional experience: (60 -90 seconds) – Touch on each position but focus on the most relevant ones – Highlight achievements and accomplishments, not roles and responsibilities – Share lessons learned if they’re relevant • UNC Kenan-Flagler (10 seconds) – Why you chose this MBA program – Mention significant involvement • Leadership Positions/Community Involvement/Interests (10 seconds) – Be human, likeable, a person with passion! – Show impact • Conclude with a tailored statement that demonstrates why you’re the person for the job (5 seconds) • Then STOP TALKING!
