The BBC’s Production Trainee Scheme (PTS) is the media industry’s gold-standard production traineeship. ■ You are bursting with programme ideas ■ You have opinions on how the BBC connects with its audiences ■ You have a voice that you feel isn’t currently being heard on the BBC ■ You have the drive and ambition to grasp the opportunities and experiences that will come your way over the 11 months We are looking for people from any and every walk of life who have the skills and potential to join our programme-making teams and help us create exciting, innovative and ground-breaking content. Through work placements in our production teams, and bespoke BBC Academy training, this scheme offers you the chance to develop a range of knowledge and experience that will prepare you for junior positions on a broad range of our TV, radio and online output. This is not a scheme where we recruit on academic qualifications and ability. What we are looking for are driven and dedicated people who want to learn how to turn their creative ideas into brilliant programmes.

Overall summary An alternate route from a level 3 media qualification would be to start applying for traineeships in radio studios locally. Then from there start as a small job then work your way up the ladder. You would most likely start off as a job such as researcher. As you learn you could give ideas and take every opportunity the company offer to gradually climb the job roles ladder.
