Core Values n n What is a core value? Is it a belief ? Is it actions you take ? Or a way of being ? Core Values are actually all of these v It is a who you are and the behavior and way of being whether you are at a CAP function or in your other daily activities v
United States Air Force Core Values v Integrity v Service Before Self v Excellence in All We Do v v The USAF states Core Values are more than just a Slogan The glue that unifies the force and ties it to great warriors and public servants of the past
CAP Core Values v CAP set our core values embraced in 1996 v CAP’s current Core Values were approved in 1999 v The Core Values are Integrated into every professional development program for Cadets and Senior Members v Core Values establish a common set of behavior expectations as well as a set of standards to access member conduct
Integrity The willingness to do what is right even when no one is around v Is the fiber to core values; without it all other core values will not prevail v It is at the center of our society for all that is moral and just. v It is more than honesty v It courage, responsibility, accountability, justice, openness, self respect, humility v CAP members must practice the highest standards of self discipline
Service Before Self Professional duties take precedence over personal desires n Group Goals are more important than individuals n
Excellence v To be the very best v Consistently improve our humanitarian mission v From personal appearance to resource management excellence must be the goal of all CAP members
Volunteer Service v Reflects the very essence of the organization service to humanity v All CAP members give of their time energy, personal resources v Commitment to put the organization purpose first and foremost v Members agree to obey the rules and regulations v This takes self discipline
Respect v Members are from all walks of life v Members must treat each other with dignity and fairness v Work together as a team v To not treat each other with respect and dignity would threaten the success of the CAP missions

Trust v Be honest in our dealings with each other v Trusting others
Dependability v Make every effort to honor your words v A person is only as good as their word v When you make a commitment follow through Ø If you are looked at as not being dependable you will have problems with being respected and trusted
Fun v Enjoy the time we spend accomplishing the mission of CAP v When CAP stops being fun stop CAP v Enjoy our fellow cadets and the senior members who work with you v Go to as many activities as you can. This allows you get the most out of CAP
