Background Information There are 7 official groups of dogs, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC) Based on similarities of the general characteristics of the breeds of dogs
The Sporting Group Naturally active and alert, Sporting dogs make likeable, well-rounded companions. Remarkable for their instincts in water and woods, many participate in hunting and other field activities. Members include various pointers, retrievers, setters and spaniels.
