Be prepared to present your findings to the class and try to answer the following questions: What is the social issue? Who is concerned by it? Why and when did it become an issue? Where does it mainly happen? (E. g. in developed or developing countries) Are there any statistics/ empirical data supporting the problem? What is the Church’s opinion about your chosen social issue? What can you/ we as Christians do to help, especially in your hometown? What is your opinion? Do you think enough is being done in order to deal with your social issue? Do you agree or disagree to the Church’s approach to the issue?

1. Identify three issues which might affect you one day, even if you live in a developed country like Australia. 2. Explain how homelessness can be such a major social issue in a developed country such as Australia. 3. Pick one social justice issue and explain how and why a different approach would be needed in a developing country (e. g. South Sudan) in contrast to a developed country (e. g. New Zealand). 4. Read the National Geographic article ‘Kenya sets ablaze 105 tons of ivory’ on our weebly and discuss how, why and for whom this is a social justice issue. 5. Is there a better/ different approach to the social justice issue in question 4? 6. What are the arguments for and against the actions Kenya has taken (from question 4)?
