As we have already begun our new year it should first be noted that the annual Campus Hills Community Association General Meeting at the Cromwell Valley Elementary Cafeteria is fast approaching! The Meeting has been scheduled for 7 pm on Wednesday, March 22. We invite all Campus Hills residents to please come join us - We look forward to sharing how the CHCA Board is working to serve the needs of our residents as well as setting forth exciting opportunities in 2017. Of course our goals cannot be accomplished alone so we look to you all for help and participation in our community. Our hope is that more residents will feel connected with our community and will want to be a positive part of our board as we continue to serve in small ways!!! Here is a review of 2016, which has had its share of challenges for the CHCA, and it is our great satisfaction to tell you, the residents, that our board met those challenges with creativity and success. Our goal from the beginning was to partner with the community as servant leaders and help our residents with their issues as friends and neighbors. Here are just a few accomplishments we enjoyed as neighbors: • In 2016, we saw new board members volunteer and become essential to the association success as they stepped up in new roles (Treasury, GTCCA, Communications, Newsletter, etc…). • The association worked with the county to provide new storm drain signs for at least half the Campus Hills Community (hopefully the second half will be completed in 2017). • The association was able to work with and partner with the Bowling alley to build a new beautiful fence bordering the community. • The Covenants Committee was able to work with and partner with residents to fulfill their individual covenants requests amicably and in good faith. • The association had more volunteers in 2016 move into larger roles such as Christmas Luminaries, COP, Communications and the GTCCA. • Finally, a special note on communications. Thanks to the ingenuity and dedication of Susan Goodman, the Campus Hills website and social network has seen a definite increase in traffic and support thanks to the weekly neighborhood pet pictures, consistent news updates, general creativity and good will associated with each individual posting. The association would like to extend its deepest thanks to those who supported the board and volunteered (The many who came together for the Christmas festivities and luminaries, covenants issues and a very special thanks to Len Duffy and Steve Considine for their support and council). Now, as we look forward to 2017, our goals are to fine tune the path we began in 2016 by partnering more with residents in regards to Covenants, move the newsletter and nearly all communications to online viewing, increase our social media presence throughout the community, create a better partnership with our local elected leaders and create enough goodwill in the community through volunteering and the simple act of being a good neighbor. Contact us at information@campushills. org and we look forward to hearing from each Resident!

Page 2 CAMPUS HILLS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER A Note on Covenants Due to the recent number of Covenants requests and questions recently, we as a community association would like to again share our thoughts on the subject. Our community Covenants are designed to keep the integrity of its property and spirit of the community intact over its life time. One of the obligations of a community association is to partner with residents to protect the Covenants and ensure harmony in the community. We also realize that the Covenants can be updated from time to account for technological changes and some residents would like to be accommodated for special needs or some did not know about our Covenants community when they purchased the house. We as an association would like to partner with you the residents and understand your needs and, in turn, ask that you help us in the protection of our Covenants. We are neighbors and want to be friends. It’s important for all of us to work together and find a win/win mutually resolution to disagreements surrounding our Covenants. Let’s partner as neighbors and reach out to each other in good faith and find that mutual respect to protect the spirit and beautification of our community. Please go to our website to view our Protective Covenants (http: //www. campushills. org/? dl_id=2) and our Standard of Protective Covenants (http: //www. campushills. org/? dl_id=1). We are here to serve the community and want you to volunteer and serve with us. Please reach out to us at information@campushills. org and, in turn, we will reach out to you as residents and neighbors in good faith to find a common solution and bring us all together for the common community good. Page 4 CAMPUS HILLS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER Future Campus Hills Newsletters will migrate to

Page 4 CAMPUS HILLS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER Future Campus Hills Newsletters will migrate to an online forum. Recently, the Campus Hills Community Association has been giving serious thought as to how to best utilize technology to its benefit. After some discussion, the board has decided to test whether moving the Campus Hills Newsletter to an online forum. This will allow the association to reach resident more efficiently and save on its Print and Postage expenses throughout the year. The newsletter will be posted on our website and notifications will be posted on Facebook, Nextdoor and emailed to residents. The savings associated with the newsletter will go into building the association savings account and other community expenses such as COP, Legal Fund, Christmas Luninaries / Activities, etc… This move to a purely online forum will take some time, so we will be producing a printed newsletter through the summer. However, we would like to encourage all residents to reach out to us and give your email address so we can have it on file to email dues notices, important notifications and of course the community newsletter. Please reach out to us at information@campushills. org. We look forward to hearing from you and know each resident will be pleased with the new medium of newsletter delivery.

WINTER 2016 Page 7 Citizens on Patrol: Information and Tips Over the past year,

WINTER 2016 Page 7 Citizens on Patrol: Information and Tips Over the past year, crime has been low in Campus Hills, to our knowledge, there have been no burglaries since 2015. In 2016, however, there were four vehicles reported to have been broken into last year and a package was reported stolen from a front porch on Goucher Blvd. and there may have been a bike stolen from a backyard on Providence Rd. It should be noted that none of these incidents were very recent. However, outside of Campus Hills at the Royal Farm store on Southwick Dr. , there was a reported armed robbery on November 19 th last year about 9: 00 p. m. Two or three men who were wearing masks and other disguises implied that they were armed and robbed the store of cartons of cigarettes and money. The robbers apparently came and left on foot but may have parked nearby. There were cameras recording this in the store but not good images outside. Similar robberies have occurred at other convenience stores throughout the Towson police precinct. If you ever think that individuals appear suspicious because they are observed putting on or removing their disguises and rushing to a vehicle, call 911 to report immediately. Never chase suspects. CRIME PREVENTION TIPS - Have Baltimore County Police perform a free security survey of your property. You will get a written copy of their report with any recommendations. To schedule, contact outreach Officer Amanda Halley at 410 -887 -5933 or email: ahalley@baltimorecountymd. gov. - Never leave your vehicle unattended with key in the ignition. - Don’t store spare car keys in your vehicle even if hidden. - Parked vehicles should always be locked with windows up. - Remember to never leave any belongings in sight in your vehicles. Nothing of great value should ever be stored in vehicles. - Don’t let anyone in your house such as a contractor or salesman without prior appointment or verification. - Keep doors and windows locked in your house and outbuildings. - Front and rear entrances should be lighted at night. - Get to know your immediate neighbors. Share phone numbers. - If you ever sense that a situation is suspicious or a crime in progress, dial 911 without delay. For nonemergencies dial 410 -887 -2222. All crimes need to be reported. Consider Joining the Campus Hills COP Some long time COP members have stepped down, so new COP volunteers are needed for day or night patrols. Contact Wesley Wood, Campus Hills COP Director, with any questions about the COP or crime prevention at phone: 410 -823 -2578, email: chcop@comcast. net or Nextdoor/Campus Hills. The Baltimore County Police set the rules for all COP groups in the county and require all COP participants
