CAMP KERN Sixth grade teachers are excited to announce that our students will have the opportunity to participate in the outdoor education program at Camp Kern in Oregonia, Ohio in the fall. The mission of the YMCA Camp Kern Outdoor Education Program is to immerse students in an enjoyable, hands-on learning experience that fosters personal growth, improved social skills, respect for others, and a deeper sense of earth stewardship. Our trip: September 16 -18

CAMP KERN We will need MANY volunteers to help our trip become a reality. If we do not have volunteer chaperones we will have to cancel our trip. PLEASE, PLEASE consider chaperoning camp. We have a large group this coming year!

All chaperones (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles) must go through a background check and schedule a time to be fingerprinted at Central Office. This is at no cost to you. Please do this ASAP.

A little more info. . . Chaperones will be traveling throughout the day with larger groups - around 60 students. There will be multiple chaperones together with this group. At night, chaperones are usually with 12 -18 students and are placed with at least one additional chaperone.

A little more info. . . Chaperones are needed and greatly appreciated! Please note that chaperones must be able to attend the entire duration of the trip. Every chaperone must fill out a release form from Central Office. You will also be asked to complete a background check, including fingerprints (this is at no cost to you). This can be accomplished through Central Office; you will need to schedule an appointment with their front desk. To set up an appointment, please call Central Office at 937 -426 -1522. Please set this up as soon as possible! We appreciate your willingness to make this a great experience for this year’s 6 th grade students! P. S. In the past we have also had grandparents, aunts and uncles chaperone. Unfortunately, we are unable to bring teenage siblings as chaperones.

THINGS TO NOTE. . . 1. We encourage ALL students to attend. If cost is an issue we can help! The cost of camp is $150 dollars for students and $60 dollars for chaperones. 1. Medications are administered by a nurse - not the teachers. Each medication sent to camp requires a specific form to be signed by the physician and must be brought in the original prescription bottle. More information will come home in the packet at the beginning of the year. 1. Sixth grade open house - MONDAY, AUGUST 12 th 6 PM-7 PM
