Safety is TOP Priority. Roadways are dangerous places. Please carefully review the following safety precautions before each pick up. Every participant must sign the Participant Waiver from before participating in the pick up. Save the form for your records. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Always use common sense. Members should be in good physical condition, including sight and hearing. Assign work teams and leaders before you reach the pick up site. Distribute trash bags beforehand. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Wear your safety vests at all times. Work only during daylight hours and during good weather. During the summer months, it is wise to restrict your work to morning hours. Do not overexert yourself. Bring plenty of drinking water and take breaks. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Estimate the amount of time for the pickup and establish a meeting place when you are finished. Carpool to the clean up site, and park in a safe spot as far from the road as possible. Do not park in areas that obstruct the views of motorists, such as in a curve. Always carry a cell phone. Safety is TOP Priority. Bring along an adequate first aid kit and identify and know how to get to the nearest hospital. One person in the group should know CPR. Obtain emergency contact information for each group member and bring that information with you. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Stay with your team. Work on one side of the road and try to face oncoming traffic when possible. Stay alert and be prepared to move out of the way. Stay away from construction sites, mowing, open water, bridges and overpasses, or retaining walls. These situations present dangers to workers. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Broken or jagged objects may be present in your bag. Never crush collected trash to make more room in your bag. Do not wear headset. They could prevent you from hearing hazards. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Never pick up syringes, hypodermic needles, animal carcasses, or heavy, large hazardous materials. Flag these items and notify the County Road Department. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Avoid “horse play” or do not participate in activity that would purposely distract drivers. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Avoid poison ivy or other noxious weeds. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program

Safety is TOP Priority. Avoid insects such as fire ants, wasps, etc. Also avoid animals such as snakes, possums and raccoons. Camden County Adopt-A-Highway Program
