R 105 Design Briefs and specifications • The exam is one hour long and is taken in January in Y 11. • The exam tests you on your knowledge of how products, machines and environments are designed and made.
R 106 Product Analysis • You will produce a project that involves you understanding how a product is designed and made: You will research how a factory would make thousands of the same product, what the product is made from and why. You will be asked to take the product apart and then hopefully put it back together again! You might be asked to improve the product. • E. g an X Box controller
R 107 Developing and presenting a design • You will produce a project that involves you designing an everyday product. This work will require you to draw your design in a number of technical ways using a drawing board. You will also be required to draw your design on a computer using Google Sketchup. You will make a prototype of your design and you will produce some advertising material for it as if you were trying to sell your product.
R 108 Design and Realisation • This project will involve you making a product. You will be asked to follow a specification and to think about health and safety. You will be required to photograph yourself making the product in the school workshop as evidence of you working safely.
