Motivation and Achievement • ESCAP support to strengthening economic statistics in Cambodia to develop the National Economic Development Plan (NEDP) with in line with SMP, • Improving the quality of national accounts statistics by provide TA to incorporating the Economic census into national accounts and training. • Resource facility to conduct a pilot survey

Motivation and Achievement • The National Strategy for Development Statistics supported by the WB. – Started in 2016 – GOPA was selected consultant firm – Mr. Tomas Africa and his team were selected as consultants – 3 National consultation workshops took places and many missions to line ministries in Royal Government of Cambodia – Final output was discussed in National consultation workshop in October 2017

Motivation and Achievement • Technical assistant for national accounts – Started in 2016 – Mr. Tim Jones was selected consultant – First visit to Cambodia in October 2017 • Review the current system of national accounts with SIDA consultant. • Review preliminary CEC 2011 • Setup the action plan for next year with consultation with SIDA • Provided training to NAD staff on classification/
Motivation and Achievement • Technical assistant for national accounts – 2 nd visit in December 2017 – 3 rd visit in February 2018 together with SIDA consultant • • New Supply and Use tables (SUT) will be develop 2 weeks workshop Preliminary SUT for review Set up next mission and workplan
Issues / Overcome • Issues – – 3 projects in place Staff limited Core work vs project works Time constrains • Overcome – Coordinating among project stakeholders – Appropriate work plan designed
Way Forward • Continue with work plan – NEDS will be develop and in line with NSDS – Request a consultant to help with this NEDS – Coordinate with SIDA project /joining work plan
