Tier 2 Status • • Around 7200 cores/threads contributing to CMS Around 300 compute

Tier 2 Status • • Around 7200 cores/threads contributing to CMS Around 300 compute nodes and 24 storage datanodes in 18 racks Eight 10 Gb transfer hosts on 10 Gb and LVS balanced Compute and storage still mostly combined, but moving to newer hosts with 12 Gb SAS drives and 40 Gb NICs aggressively • Rollouts of VMs for production services are beginning soon on Ganeti and Ceph Luminous long term stable Caltech Tier 2 Cluster

Improvements • Cent. OS 7 rollout is progressing for servers, worker nodes are migrating

Improvements • Cent. OS 7 rollout is progressing for servers, worker nodes are migrating after the planned network infrastructure upgrade this year • Network infrastructure upgrade is planned to move the Tier 2 core from 10 Gb/40 Gb to fully expandable 100 Gb Caltech Tier 2 Cluster

Tier 2 Improvements • Telegraf/Influx. DB is in place for metrics collection • Working

Tier 2 Improvements • Telegraf/Influx. DB is in place for metrics collection • Working with UCSD on Xroot. D, PRP distributed containers using Ceph, and other advanced network technologies • Working to additional opportunistic resources for CMS • GPU cluster used for testing Machine Learning models and GPU scalability Caltech Tier 2 Cluster
