Cabot Primary School Improvement Plan 2020 -21 Partnership Inclusion Excellence Quality of Education Ensure the School Curriculum provides high quality education for all pupils through its Intent, Implementation and Impact Intent: the school’s curriculum sets out the knowledge and skills that pupils will gain at each stage. The design Of the curriculum is well structured and sequenced. Implementation: the curriculum is delivered and assessed, in order to support pupils to build their knowledge and to apply acquired skills Impact: the outcomes that pupils achieve reflect the high quality education they've received. Pupils should be able to do more and know more than when they started Key Priorities 1. The quality of education at Cabot is at least good, in all subject areas, with a key focus on improving children’s progress in maths. 2. All learners make good progress, including disadvantaged learners, boys learners with additional needs and those who are more able. 3. The curriculum provides anti-racist learning. It is used to challenge race inequality and promote cultural inclusion 4. A ‘Recovery Curriculum’ to support children who have had their education interrupted by Covid 19 and can be adapted to support remote and blended learning when needed. Key Subject Priorities Maths 1. Improve progress for all pupils through consolidating, making connections, and building on prior learning in whole-class teaching and same-day intervention. 2. Develop pupils' ability to apply knowledge rapidly and accurately, reason mathematically and solve problems. 3. Support pupils' decision-making through daily number talk/fluency sessions. Reading 1. Raise attainment in phonics through regular assessment and teaching matched to needs 2. Support all pupils to read fluently Writing 1. Develop children’s cohesion and fluency when writing 2. Children apply their phonic knowledge when spelling new words 3. Improve pupil’s stamina for writing at length Behaviour and Attitudes Key Priorities: 1. Ensure high expectations of behaviour and conduct are applied consistently and fairly. Learners’ behaviour and conduct reflects these expectations 2. Support pupils to develop a positive attitude towards learning , helping them become increasingly resilient to challenge and take pride in their achievements 3. Pupils contribute towards a culture of respect where bullying, peer on peer abuse or discrimination are not tolerated. 4. Supporting children with additional behaviour needs. Including SEMH Personal Development Key Priority Pupils are prepared for life in modern Britain by: - Promoting inclusion and engendering a sense of belonging -supporting them to become responsible, respectful, active citizens who feel empowered to voice their views and contribute to positive change in society -developing their understanding of fundamental British Values ( democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, and for those without faith. ) -- Celebrating what we have in common and promoting respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law. (Equality Act 2010) Leadership and Management Key Priorities: 1. Senior leaders, middle leaders and subject leaders at contribute towards leading key improvement areas, especially those relating to teaching and learning, across the school. 2. Staff receive effective CPD to support them in their roles, including induction and support for newly appointed teachers. CPD is targeted to increase diversity within leadership posts. 3. The school continues to explore working in partnerships that will support the school’s long term sustainability and financial security. 4. The school ensures it continues to fulfil its statutory duties toward the Equality Act, Safeguarding and Prevent Early Years Key Priority: Ensure all pupils make good progress across EYFS, including disadvantaged children. Key Action: The school will continue to develop and strengthen the strategies that have proven to be effective and priorities for the new school year include: Objective Led Planning Emphasis on teaching vocabulary and word awareness
