* Types Of Motion : Linear Motion Oscillatory Periodic Motion Random Motion Circulatory Motion
1) Linear Motion : Motion in only one 1) direction is called linear motion. Ex. 1) A bullockcart moving in one direction. 2) A line of ants. 2)
i) Uniform Linear Motion : Motion in which a specific distance is being covered in a particular period , is called uniform linear motion. Ex. : Soldiers marching in a parade.
ii) Non – uniform Linear Motion : Motion that continuously changes its speed is called nonuniform linear motion. Ex. : 1) Leaping of frog. 2) Swimming of fish.
3) Oscillatory Motion : A back & forth repetitive motion is called oscillatory motion. Ex. : 1) A girl swinging on the swing. 2) See-saw 3) The movement of bird’s wings.
4) Periodic Motion : When a moving object passes through a certain point at regular intervals of time, its motion is called periodic motion. Ex. : 1) The movement of hands of the clock. 2) The motion of the earth around the sun.
5) Random Motion : Motion whose direction changes continuously is called random motion. Ex. : 1) A butterfly flits from flower to flower. 2) The motion of football players on the field. 3) The motion of a baby crawling.
6) Circular Motion : The motion along a circle is called circular motion. Ex. : 1) The motion of a top. 2) The motion of wheels of a bicycle. 3) The turning of the merrygo-round. 4) The motion of blades of fan.
* Speed : The time taken by an object to cover a distance between two points is known as speed of the object. Speed = Distance Time • Unit of speed : • In M. k. s. system – m/sec • In C. G. S. system – cm/sec
