Requirements • Application turned in by February 26, 2019 • Paperwork (physical, AP recommendation form, etc. ) turned in by February 26, 2019 • Understand agree to NISD constitution and BNHS Cheer requirements (on BNHS cheer website) • Learn tryout material from the Bobcat Cheer Website. (Dance, Chant, & Cheer) • Attend mock tryouts and tryouts

Paperwork Candidates must turn in the following items to Coach Broadstreet at BNHS by 5: 30 pm on February 26 th : • Medical Release Form signed by the parent/guardian • Pledge stating that he/she agrees to the terms and expectations of a cheerleader • Constitution signed by both the candidate and parent/guardian • 4 th six weeks report card (Must show name and all classes with grades for the entire school year) • AP Recommendation Form

Practices/Mock Tryouts Dates: February 26 , March 5 and 6 Time: 5: 30 PM Practice (Feb. 26 & March 5 th -5: 30 -6: 30): Cheer skills/techniques & open gym Wear t-shirt, shorts, pony tail, cheer shoes Mandatory Mock (March 6 th-5: 30 -7: 30): Run through the tryout process Wear plain white t-shirt, black shorts, pony tail, and cheer shoes *Parents & Friends are not allowed to watch. *Phones must be turned off.

Mascot Tryout Agenda: Use the practice/mock dates to practice a two minute routine for tryouts. You may use flags, mega phones, two cheerleaders that are trying out and any other props you bring from home including music.

Tryouts Date: Thursday, March 7 th at BNHS Time: • Varsity: 4: 30 - until dismissed • JV: 4: 45 - until dismissed Cheer Attire: Plain white t-shirt, black shorts, pony tail, and cheer shoes Mascot Attire: Plain white t-shirt, black shorts, mascot uniform * Bring MP 3 with your music on it! Bring: Water and a snack No cellphones until all tryouts are complete No parents, friends, or family in the building

Did I Make It? ! Results will be posted on the BNHS cheer web page, twitter (@BNCheer) & Instagram (@BNCheer 1) on Friday, March 8 th at 4: 30 pm.

Absences • Tardy: 3 tardies will result in 1 unexcused absence • Work and competitive cheer are not excused absences. • Unexcused Event/Practice: 1. 2. 3. 4. Benched from next performance Benched from next 2 performances May be removal from squad Removal per district policy 20 min late = absence

Expectations • Be on time (no excuses for being late - times are a requirement not a suggestion) • Be respectful o. Do not talk back to coaches or captains o. Do not talk down to other squad members or teammates • Be prepared for practice o. Correct clothes o. Shoes on o. Hair up Be Spirited at all times in practice and performance

Grades • Cheer class grade will be given based on participation in practice, punctuality, and wearing the correct practice clothes, etc. • It is expected that all cheerleaders will pass all classes each six weeks. • Per UIL, a cheerleader becomes ineligible for 3 weeks if any classes are not passed for a six weeks period. • If a cheerleader becomes academically ineligible 2 times in 1 cheer year (tryout to tryout), they are removed from the team.

Approximate Cost • Camp- $450 • Uniforms, booster club dues, etc. - $600

Point System • • • 10 Points- 1 week suspension 15 Points- 2 week suspension 20 Points- 3 week suspension 25 Points- 6 week suspension 30 Points- Removal from squad *NISD Extracurricular Code of Conduct applies

Vacations, work, and competitive cheer are not excused absences. Let your all star coaches know your schedules now! • Mandatory UCA Cheer Camp – August 4 th-7 th at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine
