Mission statement The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) works to protect dogs, cats, horses, birds, rabbits and small animals, livestock, lab animals, wildlife and the environment. We carry out hands on programs to help animals and nature
History • The establishment of The Humane Society was inspired by an anonymous $2 donation to aid an old, worn-out white workhorse. • In November 1886, a Toronto resident sent a letter about the horse, a familiar sight on city streets, to the World, a Toronto daily newspaper.
Goals • To utilize volunteer vets, techs and support staff to provide free spay/neuter services to feral and rescue cats. • To increase Public awareness and support for TNR – through education campaigns, training programs and screenings of Cat City.
Goals • When the clinics have been established and are running smoothly we hope to incorporate surgical experience for 3 rd and 4 th year veterinary students into the program. • This outreach to students and new grads will be invaluable, as these vets will likely continue to volunteer their services going forward.
