* *Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and the first person ever to fly solo from Hawaii to the U. S.
* *Amelia Earhart was born on the 24 th of July, 1897. *She was born in Atchison Kansas in America.
*Amelia Earhart wasn’t afraid to break down barriers. *In 1928 she was the first woman to fly as a passenger across the Atlantic Ocean. *Then in 1932 she became the first woman to pilot a plane across that ocean.
* *1. Amelia Earhart wasn’t so impressed the first *time she saw a aeroplane. *2. Amelia Earhart was a good student but had no patience for school. Another pioneering female aviator taught Amelia Earhart how to fly. *3. Amelia Earhart bought her first plane within six 6 months of taking her first flying lesson. She named it the canary.
* *She disappeared on July 2, 1937 over the Pacific Ocean. She was declared dead on January 5, 1939
* These are the clothes Amelia Earhart wore and she wore these clothes because this use to be her outfit she wore when she was a pilot.
* *On December 28, 1920 Amelia and her father visited an air show in California. Amelia went on her first plane flight that day. She later said that "I knew I had to fly" as soon as the plane was just a few hundred feet off the ground.
* *Her father, Edwin, was a lawyer who worked for the railroad. *She spent a lot of her childhood playing with her younger sister Muriel. * She fell in love with George Putnam. They got married on February 7, 1931 in Connecticut.
