European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities • European Non-governmental umbrella organisation • Active in the disability sector since 1996 • Representing over 17. 000 European social and health support services for persons with disabilities from 33 different countries • EASPD plays a key role at European level as a representative of disability service providers • Objective: to promote effective and high quality service systems, to empower people with disabilities so they: • can take part in society on an equal basis; • get equal access to health, education, employment, economic and cultural environments; • live independently and have the freedom to make their own choices.
Aim B-WISE aims to develop and implement a new strategic approach (Blueprint) to sectoral cooperation on skills needed to reinforce the empowering work of WISEs to strengthen the skills and competences of disadvantaged groups and to sustainably tackle the digital gap and digital challenges the sector faces Duration: 4 years Start: January 2021
Project’s purpose • 2 million Social Economy Enterprises in Europe • 10% of all businesses • 6% of EU’s employees • WISEs support people from disadvantaged groups • Digital innovations: • Change work environments • Different qualifications needed to perform certain jobs • Change the service provision • Change lifelong learning sector • Challenges*: • Skills shortages/ mismatches • lack of information of the existing technological tools • lack of knowledge on how to implement them in the WISE environment • lack of skills for the use of these tools • Some WISEs are pioneers but know-how is not mainstreamed across Europe • Access and skills to use technology affect employability and working conditions Need to develop an EU strategy to tackle the skills gaps in the WISEs sector, covering the skills needs of disadvantaged employees, their supporters and the managers • • Abaseaca R (2019), Technology for Employment in WISEs INNO-WISEs project results
Project’s purpose • B-WISE: • establish an EU-wide partnership for skills on WISEs • support the overall growth for the sector • avoid further social exclusion of disadvantaged groups due to digitalisation Different disadvantaged groups Target WISEs from different economic domains 3 main staff categories BWISE
Objectives B-WISE will build a European sustainable alliance: To develop a common methodology for assessing the current situation of digital skills gaps and anticipating future needs To identifying sector-specific labour market needs and to analyse the responsiveness of existing VET systems To identify, document and promote good practices at national and regional level To identify occupational profiles that need to be revised or created To respond to identified skills needs, to create/update transnational vocational training content To produce a credible & sustainable plan on how to match demand (employees/ employers) and supply (VET providers) of identified skills To design a long-term action plan for the progressive roll-out of the strategy after the project has finished To promote the attractiveness of the WISE sector as a career choice and to raise awareness on the importance of the use of digital technologies to support disadvantaged groups in work placement To build a strong and sustainable community supporting quality and level of skills growth, innovation and competitiveness in the sector
