The Beginning: First, A tiny little egg is laid by a girl butterfly on a leaf or stem of a plant. v. What is in this little egg? v A baby Caterpillar
A few days later… The egg stays on the leaf until it is ready to hatch Look! It hatched! Now it is a caterpillar!
Chrysalis v The Chrysalis is the resting stage for the caterpillar. v The caterpillar creates this chrysalis by using silk like string that the caterpillar produces. v The caterpillar wraps itself in this chrysalis for a long period of time, until it is ready to come out. Chrysalis
Final Stage: The caterpillar is no longer a caterpillar, it is now ready to come out of its chrysalis and form into a butterfly.
