BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS I • BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS I -Microsoft IT Academy Option • Prerequisite: None • Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR • This course is designed to develop student understanding and skills in such areas as applying integrated software to business applications, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, database applications, Internet and/or personal information programs using Microsoft Office 2016. Students utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. This course prepares students for the Microsoft Office 2016 Specialist Exam.
BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS II • BUSINESS COMPUTER APPLICATIONS II- Microsoft IT Academy Option • Prerequisite: BCA I - Passing grade BOTH semesters • Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR • This course is designed to develop additional student understanding and skills in such areas as the use of software packages in the areas of word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet and multimedia software using Microsoft Office 2016. Students utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts. This course prepares students for the Microsoft Office 2016 Specialist Exam.
Microsoft Office Specialist • Students enrolled in BCA I or II will be given the opportunity to test for Certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist in 2016 Word, Power. Point, Excel, and Access. • Specialist Certified individuals • Specialists will be proficient in using Microsoft applications, may be more marketable and typically earn a higher salary than their colleagues. • They are more likely to secure a job when compared to other applicants without the specialist credential. • Make up to $16, 000 more than those without Specialist Status (in same occupation) Microsoft Office Specialists are highly sought after by employers!
ACCOUNTING PRINCIPLES I • • • Prerequisite: None Grade Level: 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR This course prepares students with the basic principles of the accounting cycle. Students study the basic principles, concepts and practices of the accounting cycle which includes financial statements, banking, payroll, business ownerships and an accounting career orientation. Course highly recommended for students planning a business major in college. Students encouraged taking in 10 th or 11 th grade to be able to continue with Accounting II. What does an accountant do? The primary task of accountants, which extends to all the others, is to prepare and examine financial records. They make sure that records are accurate and that taxes are paid properly and on time. Accountants and auditors perform overviews of the financial operations of a business in order to help it run efficiently.

BUSINESS AND MARKETING ESSENTIALS (offered 2019) • Prerequisite: None • Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR • This course is an introduction course that explores careers in business and marketing, the role of marketing in today’s business world and a broad overview of economics. This course emphasizes personal interaction with the business world, economy, advertising, and marketing.
Personal Finance • • • Prerequisite: None Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 FULL YEAR This course is designed to develop student understanding and skills in such areas such as money management, budgeting, financial goal attainment, credit, insurance, investments and consumer rights and responsibilities. The course culminates in a personal financial literacy workshop requiring students to share their knowledge with others. . Students utilize problem-solving techniques and participate in hands-on activities to develop an understanding of course concepts.
