Cooperative Education – Application Process • Application system is OPEN • Applications accepted until July 31 @ 12 noon (or until quota filled) • Guaranteed admission to the first 150 eligible applicants (see handout for additional details)* • Online application process apply through Career. Connect • Applications will be reviewed once all required documents are submitted and application fee is paid • Students from ALL majors are welcome *N. B. Offers extended before Winter grades are available will be conditional offers. Winter Term grades are reviewed for all students before final offers will be given. www. bus. ualberta. ca
Cooperative Education – Application Materials To apply you must have: 1. List basic info on past jobs, employers, dates, job title and work hours • approximate hours is fine - i. e. you might indicate that you worked approx. 10 hours per week during the school year and approx. 30 hours per week during the summer 2. Your transcripts for all post-secondary institutions attended • unofficial transcripts are fine, download from Bear. Tracks, My. Mac. Ewan etc…) 3. Credit Card to pay the application fee ($50)
Co-op Admission Criteria Academic: • GPA 3. 0 (ACC, Fin), 2. 8 all other majors • GPA is based on at least 4 courses per term in last 2 terms • ACC and Fin majors must have B in Acc 311 • Maximum 75 cr toward their Business Degree (as of Aug 31, 2020) Work: • at least 750 hours (between February 1, 2018 and August 31 st, 2020) • include your Summer 2020 work plans if they have been confirmed Other: • We strongly encourage all applicants to participate in volunteer or extracurricular activities in order to increase their competitiveness www. bus. ualberta. ca

Do not meet an admission requirement • We may consider students who do not meet an admission requirement. • We will not know whether we have room to accept students who do not meet an admission requirement until after all applications have been received. • See a coordinator if you have questions or concerns.
Co-op program – your responsibilities Co-op students have certain responsibilities, including: • Complete 12 months of work-integrated learning (combination of 4 and 8 month placements) • Be flexible and honest in your job search, Co-op can be a lot of extra work, be ready to put in the effort necessary to succeed. • Be a self-directed learner and take an active role in your own professional development • Attend actively participate in the Co-op Boot Camp (Aug 24/25) and any Job Search Skills Training (Sept) – combination of e. Class training and in-class workshops and seminars • Co-op is an academic program and there is a Tuition Fee for each WKEXP course. It is not a “Placement Fee” If you have questions, see a Co-op coordinator
