What is bullying? ØBullying is hurting or made fun of somebody. ØThere are many reasons why people bully, but the common things are: • religion, gender, sexual orientation, appearance, behaviour, body, language, personality, strength, size or talent. . . and so on. ØIf bullying is done by a group, it is called mobbing.

Types of bullying ØSchool bullying is a type of bullying that happens in educational setting. ØBullying has four big types: • Physical • Verbal • Online (cyberbullying) • Emotional

Psysical bullying ØThis is any bullying that hurts someone’s possessions. ØStealing, hitting, fighting and destroying belongings. ØIn physical bullying the main weapon the bully uses is body. ØThis can quickly lead to a situation where they are being taunted and tortured by their classmates. ØPhysical bullying can be worse by the time and can lead to a tragic ending.

Verbal bullying ØThis is any bullying that is conducted by speaking. ØCalling names, spreading roumors, threatening somebody and making fun of others. ØIt is one of the most common types of bullying. ØIn verbal bullying the main weapon the bully uses are words. ØIn many cases, verbal bullying is more common by girls.

Online bullying ØCyber bullying is the use of technology to harass, threaten or embarrass another person. ØThis includes email, messaging, social networking sites (such as Facebook), text messages, and cell phones.

Emotional bullying ØThis is any bullying to hurt somebody’s personality and intimacy. ØRelational Bullying is a form of bullying among young people. ØRelational bullying is for improving their social standing and controlling others. ØIt is not obvious and can continue for a long time without being noticed.

The effects of bullying ØThose who have been the targets of bullying can suffer from long term emotional and behavioral problems. ØBullying can cause: • loneliness • depression • anxiety • violence • suicide • mental illnesses

What to do? • Common ways that people try to respond are to try to ignore it, to stand up for themselves or to turn to an authority. • Ignoring it often does nothing to stop and it can become worse and worse by the time. • It‘s important to do something as soon as possible. • If not you are the victim but you see bullying TRY TO HELP!
