COMPETITIVE INTEGRATED EMPLOYMENT “Real Work for Real Pay in the Real World. ” means working for pay (at least minimum wage) in the community alongside people without disabilities. The purpose of the Blueprint is to increase opportunities for Californians with Intellectual Disability & Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) to prepare for and participate in CIE. 3
LOCAL PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS WHAT PURPOSE Ø Local Partnership Agreements are the result of conversations. Ø Increased CIE opportunities for individuals with ID/DD Ø They articulate the ways in which local partners will work together to streamline service delivery, engage their communities, and increase CIE opportunities for individuals with Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability (ID/DD). Ø Seamless delivery of services Ø These agreements provide the opportunity for each set of local partners to determine what strategies will work be Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability (ID/DD). Ø Collaborative person-centered planning processes Ø Focus on the individual and the individual’s dreams and future plans Ø Career choices based on the individual’s strengths, abilities, preferences, lifestyle, cultural background, and informed choice Ø Engagement and participation of underserved communities, including racially and ethnically diverse groups Ø Trust, communication, and respect between partners 4
POTENTIAL PARTNERS LOCAL PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS Public Community Services: Including County Social Services, Juvenile Justice System, and County Mental Health. Employment Services: Including America’s Job Center of California and Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDB). Business Partners : Including the Small Business Administration, Rotary and Other Business Organizations, Chamber of Commerce, Mayor’s Business Advisory Committees, and Inclusive Business Support Organizations (Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Asian Chamber of Commerce, Rainbow Chamber of Commerce, Black Chamber of Private Non-Profit Services and Organizations: and Consumer Organizations, Youth Leadership Organizations, Independent Living Centers, Faith Based Organizations, Foster Care Agencies, Tailored Day Services, and Community Rehabilitation Programs. Education: Including Adult Education, Community Colleges, Adult and Community College Consortium, California State University and University of California, College to Career, Project Search, and Alternative Schools for Secondary Education. 5
